Winter 2013

Welcome back!  As many of you are just returning or getting ready to return, I have a few things I would like to share with you.

First, we have had a very active storm season this summer and we have been out on a lot of service calls for various problems.  One of the more common problems was because the Control4 system or home control systems were not responding properly or at all.  This is due to many power surges and the home network being out of sync with the control system.  Another common problem was surge protectors being tripped at the audio rack.  Many of you return on a weekend to find your systems down and have to wait until Monday to get on the schedule for service.  Many of you may not be aware that we offer a service to go to your home and go through your audio, video, Control4 & security systems prior to your arrival to make your return less stressful.  Please give me a call if you would like more details on this.

Second, I have just returned from the international Cedia conference and got to experience some really neat new technologies.  New this year was 4K TV which is double the quality of BluRay, more options for music services streamed to our homes, strong WiFi system for better more reliable internet, smarter & smarter TV’s and the most notable were resettable power strips.  These are devices that access the home network and can require a power reboot (ie: Control4 systems, internet router, surround sound receivers, home network switch to name just a few).  These power strips will send a signal to a device on the network.  If the device does not respond, it will do a power cycle on the device and send an email to you to let you know that the device might be failing.  These can help a lot of you that your home is a part time residence and you do not know you are having a problem until it is too late.  If you like to know more about these, please give me a call to discuss further.

I’d like to thank all of my customers who have elected to continue to do business with us, a small, local business, instead of the big box companies. By choosing to do this, you helped keep many people employed in our community through these tough economic times.

Again, welcome back!  I look forward to being here for you in the event you have a problem or are looking to upgrade or improve on the systems/technology you have in your home.
